Microdosing - The trend of Silicon Valley nerds has been spreading out in other workplaces too. There were over 60 finished or in-progress studies globally on the potential of psychedelics; a sign of the intense interest in Microdosing, as defined in the journal of Janet Chang, by 2017. Let's explore what we know about Microdosing and Stamets’ protocol, so far.

 What is Microdosing?

Microdosing is a simple phenomenon of taking small doses of some popular psychedelic hallucinogens i.e. Magic Truffles (Thortruffles) or other drugs.

A dosing protocol suggested by Stamet’s is of five days on, two days off, so one does not build up a tolerance. An old mushroom microdosing protocol is one day on, 2–3 days off. Again, some experimentation might be needed to find out what works best for you. You should periodically cycle the supplements and vitamins rather than follow the protocol indefinitely.

Psilocybin = 1–10mg

Lion’s Mane = 50–200 mg

Niacin = 100–200 mg

Why do people do it?

The purpose of microdosing is to enhance the emotional or mental state of the microdosers, not just this many people use psychedelics at higher doses for recreation, self-exploration, or spiritual purposes.

Microdosers claim that taking these psychedelics in small, measured doses benefits the mind, making them think more clearly or feel more open throughout the day. However, according to the study in Harm Reduction Journal categorized several possible benefits from reports by microdosers. These advantages include improvement of:

 

  • concentration, focus, and mindfulness
  • body functioning
  • self-efficacy, including improved ambition, productivity, and motivation
  • wakefulness, energy, and stimulation
  • reduced anxiety & stress
  • creativity
  • cognitive & social benefits
  • optimism, mood, and life appreciation
  • mental health
  • brain functioning

 

Paul F. Austin – Founder & CEO of Third Wave, and Synthesis said in his microdosing psychedelics speech at the TNW Conference that, May be the future of work isn’t just remote, it’s also on drugs. There are some famous techie names include Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, who is known to have experimented with LSD.

 Are Magic Truffles legal?

Around the globe, fluctuating legal restrictions apply to psilocybin and other psychedelic substances in various countries. Before you consider any types of psychedelic substance for microdosing, firstly check its legal status for your locality.

Since 2007, in the Netherlands, magic mushrooms have been illegal. However, the truffles containing psilocybin are legal to buy and consume and sold in head shops across the country. Truffles are especially popular in Amsterdam, Brazil, Jamaica, Peru, and Portugal.
